A little know-how
01Room inside the shoe matters
Try waterproof socks with the footwear you will use. A close-fitting shoe may feel different with a thicker sock inside it. Check the exact model’s size guide, cushioning and intended activity rather than assuming every waterproof sock feels the same.
02Choose gloves around movement
For riding, check grip and access to brake and shift controls. For walking, try the movements you need for zips, poles and pack buckles. Compare insulation, fit and dexterity across the exact models.
03Look after the waterproof construction
Follow the care label and dry the product as directed. Waterproof fabric does not prevent water entering through an open cuff. Think about how socks meet trousers and footwear, and how gloves sit with jacket sleeves.
