A little know-how
01Choose layers that work together
Start with what you already wear. A walking layer, something warm for stops and a shell have different jobs. Check that each fits comfortably over the next, that you can move freely and that the combination fits in your pack. Choose around the forecast and your activity rather than adding a layer simply because it is technical.
02A duffel and a hiking pack do different jobs
A duffel can organise clothing and equipment between home, vehicle and camp. For walking with that equipment, look at the harness, fit and access of a purpose-built pack. Compare packed dimensions and how you will carry the bag as well as its capacity.
03Keep it in use
Read the care label before washing or treating a garment. Patagonia’s Worn Wear resources explain its approach to care and repair. Check the brand’s current Australian repair process directly; Base Camp is not advertising an in-store repair service.
